Our organization has proudly hosted a number of events within our city and surrounding areas such as the below:
Opportunities Day (School Tour) - We host a youth mental heath fair & talent showcase at local Mobile County Public Schools; where we focus on community resources available to our youth. We invite organizations that focus on continuing education, mental health awareness, violence prevention, community safety, mentorship, financial literacy and much more. At each event we do invite speakers that we can introduce to the attendees who can have a positive influence on our youth.
The MOB Music Festival - This three day FREE family friendly music festival is held annually in Downtown Mobile at Cathedral Square. This event is dedicated to showcasing new music artists, activities and community resources. Musical artists from various genres (including indie, country, bluegrass, rock, alternative, gospel, soul, funk, jazz, brass band, blues, R&B and hip-hop), perform to an audience of up to 5,000. This event's purpose is to create a networking and performing arts event that brings cultures together and builds communities in Mobile and across the Gulf Coast. We have hosted this event on the second weekend of July for the past 6 years and are looking forward to the 7th Annual MOB Music Festival on July 12-14, 2024.
Broadcast University - During the summer break we host a program for youth that focuses on, technology for performing arts, fundamentals of music, future planning, entrepreneurial insights, ACT prep, tutoring and more. We take educational field trips to various locations inside the city and surrounding areas such as Montgomery and Louisiana, and have weekly guest speakers. This is a co-ed program held at a local community center in Mobile, Monday through Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm. We have hosted up to 60 youth during this program. During the school year we also visit local schools weekly for an empowerment program at Pathway Schools and Williamson High School.
Alabama Hip Hop Week Community Tour - This series of community outreach events held in the month of July annually. During this time we host day and evening events. The events held during the day are geared more towards the youth in our areas and the evening events are social activities for adults. The youth events are often held at community centers and local parks within the community in which we have educational seminars and live performances. During this time we also address challenges within our community such as gun violence, mental health awareness, financial literacy, life goals, sex education, drug abuse, conflict resolution, and community safety. The adult events are activities to address some of the same challenges and include nightlife entertainment, -live performances and networking opportunities in Mobile and the surrounding areas. The 17th annual Alabama Hip Hop week will kick off on July 15-21, 2024.
Being accessible to people and open to listening to the need in the community we serve.
